Original 1955 Mary Warren " Spinners" Cotton for Heals

Original Mary Warren "Spinners" cotton created  for Heal's Wholesale and Export Ltd, England, in c1955.

This is a plain weave cotton, screen printed with white and black onto a red background. Like many early fifties designers, Mary Warren was inspired by the science of the time and favoured motifs that were based on waveforms, crystals and molecules. Spinners is a classic design from the mid-century period.
This cotton is original. It was bought and made into one of two curtains and then kept, folded in the owner's cupboard until they moved house.
Condition overall is good with a gentle overall fade. The fabric is still vibrant and striking and the selvedge to both sides is intact and marked with the pattern name and designer. There are a couple of weaving flaws which affect the printing slightly - see the last two images. There is also a previous hem/fold line at one end.
Mary Warren's fabrics are hard to come by, especially this design and rarely in any quantity.
